Miami (Ohio) Swimming Signs Six Recruits

OXFORD – There will be six new faces on Miami (Ohio) swimming and diving team for the 2015-16 season, courtesy of November’s early signee period. Four of the incoming freshman are from Ohio, while the other two are from Indiana and Wisconsin.

Kelsey High: Coffman High School – Dublin, Ohio

High is an Ohio native who swims for the United Swim Association club team. In her junior year at State, she placed seventh in the 100-yard backstroke and 12th in the 200-yard IM. She qualified for the Division 1 Ohio State High School Championships her freshman and sophomore years, where she placed 13th in the 100-yard backstroke both years. High received an All-Ohio award in the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard IM.

Grace Hoffmann: Centerville High School – Centerville, Ohio

Hoffmann is a member of the WTRC Sharks club swimming team, where she was formally coached by Miami head coach, Mark Davis. She was a National Club Swimming Association (NCSA) qualifier. Hoffmann also set school records in the 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard backstroke, and 200-yard IM. She was first-team all-conference and a three-time Ohio High School state qualifier. Hoffmann was named as a Speedo Scholastic all-American.

Marilyn Mosbaugh: Carmel High School – Carmel, Indiana

Mosbaugh is a strong butterfly swimmer that will contribute early for the RedHawks next season. Her high school team has won 28 consecutive Indiana High School State Championships, where she has always competed in the 100-yard butterfly. She has placed ninth, 10th, and 11th the past three years at state in the race, respectively. Mosbaugh’s high school team has also won two consecutive national championships, and is looking to win a third this season.

Allison Pierce: Waunakee High School, Waunakee – Wisconsin

Pierce set school records in the 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard freestyle relay, 400-yard freestyle relay, and 200-yard IM. She was crowned a state champion in the 100-yard butterfly and 400-yard IM. She also competes for the DFAC swimming team, where she’s qualified to swim in the NCSA championships and the Wisconsin State Club Championships.

Grace Van Fossen: Upper Arlington High School – Upper Arlington, Ohio

Van Fossen is an all-American swimmer in the 200 and 400-yard freestyle relay. Her high school team was also named state champions in 2011. Her 400-yard freestyle relay team set a pool record, while her 200-yard freestyle relay team broke a pool and state record.

Sarah Wolanske: Hudson High School – Hudson, Ohio

Wolanske qualified for the Ohio High School State Championships her sophomore and junior years. Her sophomore year she placed 13th in the 500-yard freestyle. Her junior year she swam the 200-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle, and competed in the 400-freestyle relay, where she placed 17th, 15th, and seventh, respectively.
