Miami Hurricanes Sweep Up Verbal Commitment from Breaststroker Emily Grasso
NEW COMMIT: Bedford, N.Y. native Emily Grasso will head to the Sunshine State for her college career after verbally committing to the University of Miami beginning in the fall of 2021.
She will join Lucy Miller and Jacey Hinton as a member of the Canes’ class of 2025.
She told Swimming World:

A talented breaststroker, Grasso swims year-round with Empire Swimming and is a Futures qualifier. She finished ninth in both the 100 breast and 200 IM at the MIT Invitational in December where she registered four lifetime bests. Last summer, she won the 50m breast and was the runner-up in the 100m/200m breast at the Florida International Championships.
Her best times include:
- 50 breast – 30.49
- 100 breast – 1:05.77
- 200 breast – 2:25.82
- 200 IM – 2:09.26
- 50 free – 24.83
- 100 free – 53.47
Also competing for Fox Lane High School, Grasso placed 21st in the 200 IM and 24th in the 100 breast as a junior at the New York Federation Championships. She also finished fourth in those events at the NYSPHSAA Section 1 League 1 meet in 2019.
Grasso will add valuable breaststroke depth when she arrives in Miami at the start of the 2021-22 season. She’ll join a training group led by Zorry Mason who was a three-time ACC finalist in 2020.
