NEW COMMIT: Weston, Mass. native Jacey Hinton will head to the Sunshine State in the fall of 2021 after verbally committing to the University of Miami as a member of the Canes’ class of 2025 along with Lucy Miller.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m extremely proud to announce my verbal commitment to swim at The University of Miami!  The people, the culture, and the campus are unlike any other; and I fell in love with the family you join when becoming a part of the U. I am blessed to have the support of my family, friends, teammates, coaches, and mentors who have guided me through my journey. I’m so excited to be part of such an amazing team!
GO CANES!?”

A talented sprinter, Hinton does her club swimming with Crimson Aquatics and owns the Junior National cut in the 50 free. She most recently earned silver in the 100 free and bronze in the 50 free at the New England 15-18 Age Group Championships after racing those two events at Juniors East in December.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 23.19
  • 100 free – 51.10
  • 200 free – 1:50.46
  • 50 back – 26.85
  • 100 back – 57.27

Last summer, she raced to ninth in the 50m free at Rutgers Sectionals before going on to compete in that event at Junior Nationals. A rising senior at Weston High School, she won both the 100 fly and 200 free at the MIAA North Sectional Championship in 2018. She has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors twice in her career thus far.

She will add valuable depth both individually and on relays when she suits up for the Hurricanes at the start of the 2021-22 season. Her best times in the 50 free would’ve ranked third on the team last year, as would her lifetime bests in the 100 free and 200 free.
