NEW COMMIT: Delray Beach, Fla. native Lucy Miller has opted to stay in the Sunshine State for her college career and has verbally committed to the University of Miami as a member of the class of 2025.

She is the first verbal commitment the Canes have received for the fall of 2021.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I chose the University of Miami because of the amazing swimming program and challenging academics. The coaching staff is absolutely outstanding and the girls made me feel right at home. I can’t wait to spend the next four years as a Cane!!”

A versatile swimmer, Miller swims year-round with Saint Andrew’s Aquatics and most recently earned bronze in the 50m breast at Plantation Sectionals. Last summer, she finished ninth in the 50m breast at Gainesville Sectionals before going on to earn a pair of best times at NCSAs.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 23.67
  • 100 free – 53.36
  • 50 breast – 29.77
  • 100 breast – 1:04.22
  • 200 IM – 2:09.08

Also competing for Saint Andrew’s School, Miller is a six-time Florida 1A State Championship finalist. She finished fifth in both the 50 free and 100 breast as a junior while taking seventh and eighth, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.

When she arrives on campus at the start of the 2021-22 season, Miller will make an immediate impact both individually and on relays. Her best times in the 50 free ranked fourth on the Canes’ roster last season while her fastest 100 breast would’ve been second.
