NEW COMMIT: The University of Louisville has received a new verbal commitment for the 2020-21 season and beyond from Dansville, N.Y. native and current high school junior Aidan Kreiley.

Kreiley, who owns the U.S. Open standard in both breaststroke events, swims year-round with Mercury Swimming and most recently competed at Ithaca Speedo Sectionals where his highest finish was a fourth-place showing in the 100 breast after earning three golds at the Niagara SCY Championships. He earned 100% best times at both Juniors East in December and at Junior Nationals this past summer while winning both breaststroke races at the Niagara LCM Championships.

Also competing for Dansville Senior High School, Kreiley is a five-time New York Federation Championship finalist. He was the 100 breast runner-up and took eighth in the 200 IM as a junior after placing fifth and 16th, respectively, in those events during his sophomore season. He has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for his efforts.

He told Swimming World:

“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Louisville! The pride that the coaches and swimmers have in their program is beyond special. Thanks to everyone who has helped me get to this point. Can’t wait to be a part of the Cardinal family! GO CARDS!!!”

His best times include:

  • 100 breast – 55.72
  • 200 breast – 2:00.93
  • 200 IM – 1:55.78

Kreiley will add valuable breaststroke depth when he suits up for the Cardinals as a member of the class of 2024 and will have one year of overlap with top returning breaststroker Evgenii Somov, the defending conference 100 breast champion. Although he’s just outside of scoring range at the ACC Championships, Kreiley has improved significantly over the past few seasons with over a year to go before arriving in Louisville.
