Melanie Henique went 25.62 in the 50 fly to go inside the cut for the world titles at the French Elite Championships in Limoges.
Henique followed up her prelims swim of 25.90 with her finals blast ahead of Marie Wattel (26.26) and Beryl Gastaldello (26.71) with the first two women inside the time required to book a ticket for the World Championships in Budapest.
It was a season’s best for Henique and saw her go second in the world rankings.
The six-day meet is the premier selection competition for the “extraordinary” global meet in June though France is using a hybrid selection model with various meets considered.
Maxime Grousset added the 50 free title to his 100 crown in 22.28 although former Olympic and world champion Florent Manaudou did not start.
Sharon van Rouwendaal of the Netherlands won the women’s 200 back in 2:11.17 with Emma Terebo the first Frenchwoman home although her time of 2:11.35 was outside the FINA A cut of 2:11.08.
Clement Secchi won the 100 fly in 52.31 while Anastasia Kirpichnikova led home a Russian one-two in the 800 free.
Kirpichnikova went 8:24.76 ahead of Anna Egorova (8:30.67) with Alexa Reyna the first Frenchwoman home in 8:43.32.
