Meet the 2021 Summer Social Media Intern Class

This summer, Swimming World worked with 16 social media interns on Swimming World and ISHOF social media accounts.  They have been doing a fantastic job of engaging with our fans, posting timely content for Olympic Trials and the Tokyo Games, as well as developing their own original content all summer long.  Get to know our bright, motivated, talented interns and their lives outside social media!

Carli Baldwin

Carli Baldwin is a junior at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico, majoring in Marketing and Management with minors in Sports Marketing and Business Law. She grew up swimming in the Southern California region and has excelled in sprint backstroke, freestyle, and butterfly events. Carli enjoys racing the 100 IM and wishes that it would be an event that was more frequently swam in college. Inside and outside of the pool, Carli has a passion for sports and can be seen watching her favorite sporting events, such as baseball, while drinking iced coffee or snacking on some Chick-fil-A.

Mary Kate Reicherter

Mary Kate, or MK, Reicherter is finishing up her freshman year swimming at Indiana University in the Big Ten Conference She is majoring in Marketing with a co-major in Digital and Social Media Business Applications from the Kelley School of Business. She is from Arlington, Virginia and spent 13 years swimming competitively in the Potomac Valley. She has experience running the team Instagrams for her high school and summer league teams, and is currently a member of the Indiana Swim & Dive Social Media Committee. She enjoys drawing, listening to music, collecting vinyls, and going to concerts!

Juliana Santamauro

Juliana Santamauro, better known as Jules, is a rising junior at the Savannah College of Art and Design. She is studying film and television production with a focus in editing and sound design. Jules grew up in Howell, New Jersey but has taken her passions of swimming and filmmaking down south to Georgia. She swims for the BlueGrass Mountain Conference and partakes in events such as the 100 and 200 fly and jokes she’s “everything but a breastroker”. Jules has a passion for after practice Dunkin runs as well as writing stories and music, watching Marvel movies, and making vlogs with her teammates/close friends.

Kate Walter

Kate Walter is a rising freshman at Northwestern University, where she will study journalism at the Medill School. She is from the Washington, D.C. area and graduated from Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart (Katie Ledecky’s alma mater!), where she swam, ran cross county and served as editor for her school newspaper. Kate has been a Swimming World Magazine journalism and social media intern for the past three summers.

Liliana Schone

Liliana Schone is a rising senior at Langley High School in Mclean, Virginia. She has spent the past 12 years swimming competitively for Machine Aquatics in the Potomac Valley. Liliana has experience managing social media and marketing for her family bakery business, Schone’s Scones. She also has experience using photoshop for a variety of graphic design projects. In her free time, she loves to spend time with her family, friends, and coach for her local swim club!

Madilyn Sindelar

Madilyn Sindelar is a rising senior at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, South Dakota. She is majoring in strategic communication and minoring in social media marketing and tourism and hospitality. Madilyn comes to South Dakota from Rocklin, California where she fell in love with swimming and storytelling. She is an all around sprinter and specializes on the 100 fly, 100 free, 50 free and more recently the 100 i.m. plus relays. Madilyn loves spending time with her friends and family and can be found writing for her school paper The Volante or at the nearest coffee shop. One day she hopes to work in marketing and promotions for an athletic department.

Julia Ribeiro

Julia Ribeiro, is a rising senior at the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Florida. She is majoring in Communication, double minoring in Sports Management and Sports Psychology, as well as pursuing a certificate in Digital Marketing. Julia is from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and she has been swimming the past 13 years of her life. In the pool, her passion has always been distance free events. Her favorite event is the 800M freestyle.  Outside of the pool, you can find her drinking coffee and studying at the UWF Library. She also enjoys going to the beach with friends. She has done several multimedia projects for UWF Athletics and UWF Swim & Dive social media.

Emily Dattilo

Emily Dattilo is a senior at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She is majoring in psychology and journalism and minoring in creative writing. Originally from Illinois, Emily swam competitively from ages nine to 18, and her favorite events were the 100 breaststroke, 100 freestyle and the medley relay. At Miami, Emily served as a managing editor for her school newspaper and is the current chapter president of The Society of Professional Journalists. In her free time, Emily enjoys listening to music, writing feature articles and profiles, drinking iced tea, running and hanging out with friends and family. This fall, she will be attending Columbia University to pursue a Master of Science in Journalism.

McKenna Ehrmantraut

McKenna Ehrmantraut is a recent graduate of the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington, majoring in English and Communications. This fall McKenna is heading across the pond to work within the travel industry in London. She recently became a swammer but still has a deep love for the water and lived the distance life with a splash of backstroke. Outside of the swimming world, McKenna loves to travel the world with friends and family and volunteer to help animals find their forever homes.

Andrew Martin

Andrew Martin is a rising Junior at Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH. He is majoring in Marketing with a minor in Finance. Growing up in Madison, Wisconsin, Andrew has been swimming since he was 9 years old. He currently swims freestyle events, specializing in distance, but has recently found a new love for sprinting as well! Whether it be the 200 free relay, or the 1650, as long as it’s freestyle he’ll enjoy it! Outside of the pool Andrew enjoys grabbing coffee or food with friends, playing the piano, and downhill skiing. He hopes to pursue an MBA after graduation.

Jack Donnelly

Jack Donnelly is a senior at The University of Scranton in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He is currently a marketing major in the Kania School of Management. Prior to attending Scranton, Jack grew up in Bucks County, Pennsylvania and swam for Eastern Express (EEX) where he gained a strong interest in the sport. In the pool, Jack swims for Scranton in the Landmark Conference and has found success in the breaststroke events. Outside of swimming, Jack likes to travel, spend time with family and friends, and enjoy the outdoors. Following graduation, he plans to pursue his MBA with a concentration in business analytics.

Matt Diaz

Matthew Diaz is a sophomore at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. He is currently pursuing a major in digital media and journalism with a cognate in video production, with hopes of mastering in sports marketing. Before attending Liberty, Matt attended highschool in Puerto Rico as a native citizen of the country. Matt played soccer for his highschool and Atletico Madrid academy in Puerto Rico. He just retired from playing soccer at the D1 level for Liberty. Besides pursuing a degree in video production, Matt currently holds the position of head content creator and head social media manager for Liberty Men’s Swim. He also manages a website for a swim school in PA. Besides making content for Men’s Swim, Matt has made content for Womens swim and dive, Women’s Soccer, and Women’s figure skating, along with companies and freelance work. In his free time, Matt likes to run, play pick up soccer and listen to music.

Kaleigh Haworth

Kaleigh Haworth is a rising junior student and swimmer at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is a journalism major with a Spanish minor. She grew up swimming in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, where she also worked for her high school newspaper as a reporter, page designer and co-editor in chief. In the pool, she swims mid-sprint breaststroke and IM, and in her free time she enjoys watching movies, reading and taking walks to local coffee shops.

Georgia Rudolph

Georgia Rudolph is a senior at Brock University in St. Catharines, Canada. She is studying Media and Communications with a focus on digital media and political science. In the pool, Georgia competes for the Brock Badgers in the OUA division. She has been swimming competitively since age 15. Georgia specializes in mid-distance freestyle, and her favorite event is 400 free (though she loves swimming 50 free and breast, especially in relays!). Outside of training and school, Georgia loves spending time with her pets, cycling, and coaching young swimmers.

Suzie Ryan

Suzanne Ryan, better known as Suzie, is currently studying communications and law, majoring in public relations and marketing at Bond University on the Gold Coast, Australia. In the pool, she is a distance swimmer but sometimes dabbles in 400 IM. She is also an avid open water swimmer excelling in the 5km and 10km events but loves a good 5km relay with her teammates. Suzie is currently a learn to swim teacher and swim coach for the junior squad at Miami, where she loves to pass on her passion for the water to younger swimmers. She also has experience in freelancing in marketing, content creation, writing and social media management. Suzie has a passion for all sports, playing nearly every sport growing up and loved playing footy with the boys. Outside of the swimming world, Suzie can often be found at the beach hanging with friends or surfing, travelling the world, reading, working, running or finding new adventures to go on.

Nathalia Pietrantoni

Nathalia A Pietrantoni is a first year at Johns Hopkins Carey Business School in Baltimore Maryland focusing on getting an MBA. Throughout my undergrad and high school I threw myself into athletics as well as involving myself further into how athletes are seen throughout campus. Currently I am a swim instructor and part-time coach at LISS, where I can fuel my passion for swimming further! I’ve been a huge fan of distance swimming ever since my coach threw me into the 1000 free, and in my free time I enjoy running, photography, music as well as any new adventure available to me!
