The 13-14 girls team from Quebec, Canada, consisting of Allyson Kis, Eliana Beaudry, Juliette Vermes-Monty and Jilian Pauletto, smashed the previous meet record set by the Crow Canyon Sharks in 2011 by nearly two seconds. The Canadian quartet clocked a 4:01.57 for the win, ahead of the 4:03.21 meet record.

Other standout swims included a double win from Pleasanton’s Seahawk’s Erika Brown, who took the 13-14 girls’ titles in the 200 backstroke (2:19.28) and 100 freestyle (58.24). Brown also raced in the 400 IM, but slipped to second after a powerhouse breaststroke leg from De Anza Cupertino’s Avalon Schultz. Schultz took control of the race, clocking a 5:09.93 for the win, far ahead of Brown’s 5:12.44. Quebec’s Daphne Danyluk also factored into the race early on and took third with a 5:14.03.

Sunn Swimming’s Vivian Wang put together an impressive double win in the 11-12 girls age group. She was the only 12 year old girl to break the minute barrier in the 100 freestyle, with a 59.79 for the event win. Close on her tail in the race were Arden Hill’s Lizzie Menzmer (1:00.70) and Santa Clara’s Cathy Teng (1:00.86). Wang came back later in the night for a win in the 50 breaststroke (35.95).

On the boy’s side, Bryce Mefford of Sierra Marlins Swim Team, put together a powerhouse race in the boy’s 13-14 200 backstroke. He won the event in a 2:09.41, far outstripping the competition, but not fast enough to touch NAG record holder Benjamin Ho’s 2:07.92 meet record, set in 2012. Palo Alto Stanford Aquatic’s Alex Liang took second with a 2:13.00.

In the 15-16 girls age group, Arden Hill’s Taylor Yamahata didn’t let a tough double phase her. Yamahata showed her chops by winning the 200 backstroke in a 2:20.26, then turning around later in the night to take the title in the 400 IM with a 5:04.49. She was nearly six seconds ahead of second-place finisher Eva Chung (5:10.18), from Pleasanton.

Orinda Aquatic’s Talbot Jacobs put together an impressive win in the boys 17 & over 200 backstroke. His 2:09.34 winning time put him ahead of teammates Albert Miao (2:13.70) and Alex Shieman (2:13.84). Jacobs was also a factor in the last event of the night, the boy’s 17 & over 400 freestyle relay. Orinda took second in the event (3:39.96) just four one-hundredths behind the A team from Santa Clara that raced in the heat prior to them.
