Medical Reasons Force Laure Manaudou to Terminate Pregnancy
PARIS, France, March 6. LAURE Manaudou made the difficult decision to terminate her second pregnancy, citing unspecified health reasons, according to various media reports.
Manaudou announced her second pregnancy in January on the same day that she announced her permanent retirement from competitive swimming. The announcement came about two months into her pregnancy, according to statements made by Manaudou shortly after her retirement announcement.
Manaudou, who announced the termination of her pregnancy through an official media statement today, has a three-year-old daughter, Manon, with partner Fred Bousquet.
“I learned that in elite sport there was no way without mishap,” Manaudou said in her statement. “It is also true on a personal level. I know I am not alone in this, many women have had to endure this ordeal, and I'm lucky enough to already be a mom.”
