Matt McDonald Joins Minnesota Swimming as Transfer

Sophomore transfer Matt McDonald has joined the Minnesota men’s swimming and diving program for the spring semester.

McDonald, who signed with the Gophers this past fall, spent last season at North Carolina State. During the 2020-21 season, he competed in two meets for the Wolfpack. He posted his fastest times in the 50 free (20.92), 100 free (45.17) and 100 fly (49.21) at the UNC Invite.

In his prep career, Matt McDonald, a native of Westwood, Mass., took home the gold medal in the 50 fly at the New England Senior Championship. He also posted an eighth-place finish at the 2019 NCSA Junior Championship and was a semifinalist in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 fly at the 2019 East Winter Juniors.
