Marvin Johnson, Bahamian National Champion, Verbals to Florida for 2025
NEW COMMIT: The University of Florida has received a new verbal commitment for Fall 2025 from sprint freestyler Marvin Johnson out of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
He will join Jordan Willis in Gainesville as a member of the Gators’ Class of 2029.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic career at the University of Florida. I want to thank my family, coaches, friends and everyone that has played a part in my life for all their support. I am so grateful for this opportunity! Go Gators!!!”
Johnson represents The Bahamas internationally. He won the 50/100/200/400 free, 200 back and 50/100 fly at the Bahamian National Championships in June 2023. A month later, he competed at the Commonwealth Youth Games, earning silver in the 50m free and bronze in the 100m free.
He also advanced to the semifinals of the 50m free at the 2022 FINA World Junior Championships.
He trains year-round with McCallie GPS Aquatics. He most recently competed at Juniors East where he sprinted to fourth in the 50 free and 17th in the 100 free.
His best times include:
- 50 free – 19.73
- 100 free – 43.60
- 200 free – 1:39.33
- 100 fly – 48.95
Currently a junior at McCallie School, Johnson won the 50 free and 100 free at the TISCA State Championships in 2023 after finishing second in both of those events during his freshman season.
