Mallary Dick, Schlossmacher-Smith Lead Diving events at Minnesota Girls High School State Championship

The University of Minnesota hosted the first day of the Minnesota Girls High School State Championship, with the A and AA Diving Prelims taking off at 12 pm and 6 pm respectively.

In the A-Prelims, Senior Mallary Dick from Big Lake High School will go into finals seeded first, after posting a solid 175.65 for the day. She is followed by Senior Rachel Haugen from Hutchinson High who follows Dick closely with a point total of 171.70. Going into finals in third place is Junior Sophia Steinberg of Fairbault High School who posted 169.80.

In the AA-Prelims, Sophomore Michelle Schlossmacher-Smith from Roseville High School started off strong with a dominant point total of 208.90. Junior Meghan Miller from Woodbury High School followed with a 197.90. Senior Andrianna Jacobs of Rochester Century High School was a very close third with 197.90.

The AA field then posted dominant semifinal results, with all three tops girls maintaining their places. Schlossmacher-Smith improved her lead by posting a final point total of 325.40. Miller increased her lead slightly by posting a 305.10 to Jacobs’s 301.10.

The Minnesota Girls High School State Championship will continue tomorrow with the swimming prelims, with swimming and diving finals taking place on Friday.
