Madisyn Cox Moves to Ninth All-Time In SCY 400 IM, First Time Under 4:00
Texas postgrad Madisyn Cox broke 4:00 for the first time ever in her career on Saturday in the 400 IM short course yards with a 3:58.55 as she moved to ninth all-time in the event. Cox improved her best time of 4:00.97 from the 2017 NCAAs as she admitted on social media that this was her last ever yards 400 IM as she will pursue medical school after the Olympic Games whether she makes the team or not. Cox was able to become the eleventh woman to break 4:00 in the event, moving herself from 13th to 9th on the all-time rankings list.
She swam the race in a time trial with Texas senior Evie Pfeifer who swam a 4:07.91.

Madisyn Cox was a 4:47 in long course in January last month at the TYR Pro Swim Series as she is ranked fifth in the US since the start of the pandemic. Cox swims for coach Carol Capitani at the University of Texas where she has been since the fall of 2013. She made the 2017 World Championships team for the United States and is training to make her first Olympic team in 2021.
