Madi Mintenko, World Juniors Gold Medalist, Sends 2025 Verbal to Virginia

NEW COMMIT: The University of Virginia has recently landed a big verbal commitment for the fall of 2025 from Colorado Springs, Colorado native Madi Mintenko.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Virginia. I want to thank my family, friends, and teammates for their incredible support. Thank you to the @uvaswimdive coaches for believing in me. I also want to thank the numerous coaches and programs I have been able to get to know during the recruiting process. A special thanks to George and Anna Heidinger at @pikespeakath for creating an environment that myself and others can thrive in. GO HOOS”

Mintenko won the 200m free at Junior Nationals this past summer in a new best time of 1:58.07. Not only did that set a new meet record, it moved her up to No. 7 all-time for 15-16 year olds.

Capping off an incredible summer, Mintenko competed for Team USA at the World Junior Championships. She anchored the 4x200m free relay team which earned gold, and she collected silver in the 400m free.

She trains year-round with Pikes Peak Athletics.

Her best times include:

  • 100 free – 48.02
  • 200 free – 1:43.92
  • 500 free – 4:39.24
  • 1650 free – 16:19.47

Currently a junior at Pine Creek High School, Mintenko won the 200 free and 500 free at the Colorado 4A State Championships during both her freshman and sophomore seasons.

Mintenko is undoubtedly a huge pickup for the Cavaliers, as her top 500 free time is already fast enough to score in the A-final at the NCAA Championships.
