Mackenzie Miller Gives 2022 Verbal to Brigham Young With MPSF A-Final Worthy Times
NEW COMMIT: Brigham Young University has received their second verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season from Junior National qualifier Mackenzie Miller of Sanger, Calif.
She will join Julia Bartell of Waconia, Minn. as a member of the Cougars’ Class of 2026.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am so beyond ecstatic to announce my verbal commitment to continue my swimming and academic career at Brigham Young University! i want to say a huge thank you to my coaches, friends, and family that have helped me throughout this process, i wouldn’t be where i am today without you! go cougs! ?”
A talented breaststroker, Miller trains year-round with Clovis Swim Club and won the 100 breast at the 18&U Winter Championships in December after earning a best time at the Toyota U.S. Open in November. She collected three gold medals at the CCS LCM Junior Olympics in Summer 2019 before going on to take 12th in both the 100m/200m breast at Arena Western Zones.
Her best times include:
- 100 breast – 1:02.40
- 200 breast – 2:16.02
- 200 IM – 2:08.69
Currently a junior at Clovis East High School, Miller grabbed bronze in the 100 breast at the CIF Central Section Championships during her freshman season where she also finished 11th in the 200 IM.
Miller will make an immediate impact when she arrives on campus, as she would’ve earned bronze in both the 100 and 200 breast at the 2021 MPSF Championships. The Cougars finished second behind Hawaii and sophomore breaststroker Katie McBratney broke two conference records.
