Mack Horton, Australian Distance Star, Re-Ups With Speedo
Speedo has announced the re-signing of Australian swimming talent Mack Horton. The 19-year-old from Melbourne has recently returned from his first senior FINA World Championships, in Russia, with a bronze medal under his belt in the 800m freestyle.
Horton holds junior world records in the 400m, 800m and 1500m freestyle and holds the Australian title for all three events. The swimmer will now focus on his training on the road to Rio in the lead up to the 2016 Olympic Games.
Horton, says, “I am very happy to be extending my partnership with Speedo until 2018. I have always trained and raced in Speedo, and I am excited by the ongoing development of their swimsuit technology. I am looking forward to having Speedo in my corner on my journey through to the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games”.
Horton clocked the second fastest time in the world this year in the 400m freestyle, and the third fastest times in both the 800m freestyle and 1500m freestyle events. He is coached by Craig Jackson at his home club, the Melbourne Vicentre Swimming Club.
Graham Eyres, Speedo Pacific Brand Manager, says, “We are extremely pleased to renew our sponsorship with Mack as he’s one of Australia’s most exciting young swimmers. Speedo is about inspiring people to swim and Mack is the perfect role model for young swimmers”.
Being a part of Team Speedo in Australia gives Horton the opportunity to be involved in international Speedo activities in the lead up to and after the 2016 Rio Olympics, raising his profile on the world stage.
