LSU Rings In Class of 2026 Recruiting with Verbal Pledge from Payton Woodring
NEW COMMIT: Louisiana State University has picked up their first verbal commitment for the fall of 2022 from Junior National qualifier Payton Woodring of Ellijay, Ga.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am beyond blessed and excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my swimming career at LSU! Thank you to my family, coaches, and friends for making this dream become my reality. Fall 2022 can’t come fast enough!! #geauxtigers”
Woodring, who does her club swimming with Carpet Capital Aquatics Club, competed at the Toyota U.S. Open in December and picked up three best times at Juniors East in December 2019. In July 2019, she had a stellar showing at Georgia LCM Seniors where she finished sixth in the 100m back and eighth in the 50m back.
Her best times include:
- 50 back – 27.44
- 100 back – 56.77
- 200 back – 1:59.01
- 100 fly – 56.46
- 200 fly – 2:04.07
- 100 free – 51.82
- 200 free – 1:52.70
- 500 free – 5:11.83
Currently a junior at Gilmer High School, Woodring is a six-time individual Georgia 1-3A State Championship finalist. She placed fourth in the 200 free and fifth in the 100 back in 2021 while taking fourth in the 100 free and fifth in the 50 free in 2020.
She has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for her efforts in the pool and in the classroom.
Woodring will have three years of overlap with the Tigers’ Class of 2025 that includes Alayna Carlson, Jenna Bridges, Reagan Sweeney, Megan Braman, Peyton Curry, Emily Pawlaski, Sasha Ramey and Abby Maoz.
