Four Atlantic Coast Conference swimmers and divers were recognized with weekly awards, the conference announced on Tuesday. The Louisville Cardinals earned three of those honors.
Louisville’s Trevor Carroll was named the ACC Male Swimmer of the Week, his third weekly recognition of the season. The junior was a triple winner last weekend, winning the 50 free, 200 free, and 500 free. Carroll was also part of a winning relay as Louisville defeated Kentucky 200-100.
Another Louisville swimmer was awarded the ACC Female Swimmer of the Week, as Andrea Cottrell earned her second recognition of the season. The junior swept both the 100 and 200 breaststroke events and was part of two winning relays as the Cardinal women beat the Wildcats 190-110.
Cardinal diver Sean Piner was recognized as the ACC Male Diver of the Week for winning the 1m with a score of 367.58, which set a new team record. The senior later dove to a third place finish in the 3m with a score of 310.50. This was his first weekly recognition of the season.
Georgia Tech’s Shannon Lumbra was named the ACC Female Diver of the Week for sweeping both diving events in the meet against Alabama. The senior dove to first place finishes in the 1m (290.90) as well as the 3m (293.60). This is her second weekly award of the season.
