Louisville Cardinals Add Verbal from Junior National Finalist Ryan Hogan to Class of 2025
NEW COMMIT: The University of Louisville has received a new commitment for their growing class of 2025 from distance freestyler and IMer Ryan Hogan of Atkinson, N.H.
He will join Eli Shoyat, Murilo Sartori, Lance Godard, Wylie Kruse, John Bossler, Owen Taylor and Luke Shourds in The Ville at the start of the 2021-22 season.
Hogan does his club swimming with SOLO Aquatics and owns seven Junior National cuts. He earned 100% best times at Juniors East in December where he finaled in the 400 IM before going on to register six top-6 finishes at New England Seniors.
Last summer, Hogan collected the silver medal in the 400m IM along with bronzes in the 400m/800m/1500m free at New England Seniors. The two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American then went on to finish 11th in the 400m IM at Junior Nationals.
His best times include:
- 500 free – 4:31.29
- 1000 free – 9:24.07
- 1650 free – 15:45.38
- 200 IM – 1:51.01
- 400 IM – 3:55.13
When he suits up for the Cardinals in the fall of 2021, Hogan will have one year of overlap with Colton Paulson and Hayden Curley as well as two years with Ilia Sibertsev in Louisville’s distance group. He will also arrive on campus following the graduation of IMers Daniel Sos and Evgenii Somov.
Under head coach Arthur Albiero, UofL placed third overall at ACCs this past season. Louisville finished a program-high fifth place at NCAAs in 2019, surpassing their previous top finish of ninth in both 2012 and 2018. The Cardinals qualified 10 swimmers for the 2020 NCAA Championships.
