Louisville Cardinals Add Breaststroker Cecilia Viberg of Sweden to Class of 2026
NEW COMMIT: Breaststroker Cecilia Viberg of Lidingö, Sweden has announced her intention to attend the University of Louisville beginning in the fall of 2022.
She will join Julia Dennis, Ella Welch, Paige Kuwata, and Jordan Durocher as well as diver Jiselle Miller as a member of what is a very impressive Class of 2026 for the Cardinals.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I’m extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at University of Louisville this fall. Can’t wait to be a part of the Cardinal family❤️ Big thank you to everyone that has helped me on my way!! GO CARDS!!”
Viberg most recently competed at the LEN European Championships in November where she placed 24th in both the 50m breast and 100m breast. She also placed second in both of those events at the Swedish Swim Games Grand Prix 1 back in September.
In SCM, her best times include:
- 50m breast – 30.74
- 100m breast – 1:06.95
- 200m breast – 2:37.72
In SCY, those times convert to:
- 50 breast – 27.64
- 100 breast – 1:00.20
- 200 breast – 2:21.83
She’ll be joining a program that finished third at the ACC Championships and sixth at the NCAA Championships this past season under head coach Arthur Albiero.
