Louisville Adds U.S. Open Qualifier Ryder Hicks To Class of 2025

NEW COMMIT: A U.S. Open qualifier who excels in breaststroke, Ryder Hicks of Cincinnati, Ohio, has verbally committed to the University of Louisville beginning in Fall 2025.

He will join Ryan Henderson, Owen Stevens and Nate Thomas in Kentucky as a member of the Cardinals’ Class of 2029.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am very excited and grateful to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at the University of Louisville! I would like to thank my family, friends and teammates for their endless support and most importantly I want to thank God for everything he has done in my life. I would also like to thank my coaches at the Mason Manta Rays, Ken Heis, Emilie Hoeper, and all of my previous coaches for always supporting me and helping me get where I am today. Finally I want to thank Coach Albiero and the Louisville Coaching staff for believing in me and giving me this amazing opportunity. Go Cards!”

Hicks does his club swimming with Mason Manta Rays. He last competed at the NCSA Summer Championships where he won silver in the 200m breast. He capped off his short course season in March at Indianapolis Sections, earning four best times and taking 10th in the 200m breast.

His best times include:

  • 100 breast – 56.44
  • 200 breast – 2:01.79
  • 200 IM – 1:49.91
  • 400 IM – 4:00.36

Now a senior at Archbishop Moeller High School, Hicks took fourth in the 200 IM and seventh in the 100 breast at the 2024 Ohio Division I State Championships. He placed 12th in the 100 fly at the state meet during his sophomore season.
