Longhorns Keep Texas 5A State Champion Jeremy Kelly In State For 2024
NEW COMMIT: The University of Texas has received yet another impressive verbal commitment for the 2024-25 season and beyond from in-state standout Jeremy Kelly of Georgetown, Texas.
He will join Luke Stibrich, Brayden Taivassalo and Cooper Lucas as a member of the Longhorns’ Class of 2028.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I’m extremely excited and humbled to announce my commitment to further my academic and athletic career at the University of Texas! I’d like to thank my family, friends, and coaches for supporting me along this journey, along with Coach Eddie and Wyatt for giving me such an incredible opportunity. Hook ‘em! ”
Kelly, who trains year-round with Nitro Swimming, placed 10th in the 200m IM and 12th in the 200m free at Junior Nationals this past summer. He earned best times in the 50m/100m/200m free at the International Team Trials in April and sprinted to 10th in the 50 free at Juniors West last December.
His best times include:
- 50 free – 20.02
- 100 free – 44.06
- 200 free – 1:36.10
- 500 free – 4:23.18
- 200 IM – 1:48.32
- 100 back – 49.52
- 200 back – 1:47.75
- 200 breast – 2:01.72
Currently a junior at Georgetown High School, Kelly won the 50 free and 500 free at the Texas UIL 5A State Championships. He placed first in the 200 IM and second in the 100 back at the state meet during his freshman season.
