LIVE: British Championships, Day 6 Finals: Scott Wins Top-Quality 200 Free

Duncan Scott leads the way into a 200 free final stacked with quality and depth in the last event of the British Championships in Sheffield.

Scott has showcased his excellence and versatility this week at Ponds Forge with a British 400IM record of 4:09.12 and 1:56.08 in the short medley.

The Olympic silver medallist will be joined by Tokyo champion Tom DeanCameron Kurle and 2015 world champion James Guy.

Women’s 1500 freestyle

Budapest qualification time: 16:01.46

Fleur Lewis won the title in 16:45.51 after a final-length battle with Amber Keegan.

Men’s 50m butterfly

Jacob Peters led the way into the final ahead of sprint freestyle silver medallist Ben Proud.

Proud rose ahead and always held a half body-length lead to take his sixth national title in this event in 23.09 with Peters next home in 23.47.

Adam Barrett – 2014 European and Commonwealth relay champion – went 23.80 in third for a Team England Commonwealth Games consideration time.

Women’s 100m breaststroke

Budapest qualification time: 1:06.42

Kara Hanlon was the only woman inside 1:08 in 1:07.93 to book lane four alongside Sarah Vasey in five.

Imogen Clark led at the turn and was still ahead with 25 to go when Hanlon and Vasey made their moves.

The Scot got the touch in 1:07.52 to add to her bronzes in the 50 and 200 ahead of Vasey (1:07.60) and Clark (1:07.63).

Men’s 200m backstroke

Budapest qualification time: 1:56.08

Luke Greenbank was preselected following Olympic bronze in Tokyo and he was more than 2.5secs clear in qualifying.

Brodie Williams led at halfway only for Greenbank to turn on the burners on the third 50 to turn first at 150 by 0.10.

Greenbank, coached by Mel Marshall at Loughborough, managed to keep himself ahead to win in 1:57.57 to Williams’ 1:57.90.

Women’s 100 fly

Budapest qualification time: 56.99

Harriet Jones headed the field into the final ahead as she looked to add the 100 title to the one she won in the 50.

But it was 200 champion Laura Stephens who led at halfway in 27.09 to 27.14, an advantage she extended to stop the clock at 58.43 to Jones’ 59.10.

Keanna Macinnes was next home in 59.24.

Men’s 200 freestyle

Budapest qualification time: 1:46.16

Tom Dean was preselected after claiming the Olympic crown in Tokyo ahead of teammate Scott who took silver.

The final event of the meet was eagerly anticipated with every single man in the eight-strong field an Olympian.

Jakob Goodman won the B final in 1:49.35 before the eight lined up at Ponds Forge.

Last one, fast one indeed.

James Guy led at the final turn before Scott and Dean drove ahead.

Scott claimed his third title of the meet in 1:45.54 ahead of Dean (1:45.73) and Guy (1:46.44).
