LIVE: British Championships, Day 4 Finals: Guy, Hopkin, Anderson & Wilby In Action
James Guy, Anna Hopkin, James Wilby and Freya Anderson are all action in the fourth finals session of the British Championships at Ponds Forge.
The six-day meet doubles as trials to gain selection to the British team for the World Championships in Budapest in June and to make the home nations’ consideration times for the Commonwealth Games in July.

Women’s 200 backstroke
Budapest qualification time: 2:07.73
European junior silver medallist Katie Shanahan was swiftest in the heats but it was Honey Osrin who led at halfway, a lead she maintained at 150.
Shanahan though reduced the deficit steadily on the final 50 before stopping the clock at 2:11.25 with Holly McGill second in 2:11.84 and Osrin third in 2:12.12.
Men’s 100 Fly
Budapest qualification time: 51.33
European bronze medallist Guy led the way in the prelims in 51.68.
Guy, who won world bronze in this event in 2017, turned at 23.98 and was half a body length clear coming into the final 15m, stopping the clock at 51.69, outside the cut although he is on the team thanks to his relay exploits in Tokyo where he won two golds and one silver medal.
Jacob Peters, also of Bath NTC, was second in 51.93.
Women’s 100 free
Budapest qualification time: 53.55
Hopkin was the only woman inside 55secs in the morning heats as she looked to claim the sprint freestyle double following victory over 50m.
The Loughborough swimmer finished seventh in the Olympic final in Tokyo last year and she led from start to finish in 53.45, within the cut.
Freya Anderson was second in 53.92 replicating her 200 finish and yet to book a ticket to world titles.
Men’s 200m breaststroke
Budapest qualification time: 2:08.55
Wilby was preselected for Budapest and also confirmed his slot over 100 earlier in the week.
The Commonwealth champion dominated throughout with clear water between himself and the rest of the field as he touched in 2:09.48.
A battle unfolded behind him between Adam Chillingworth and Greg Butler – who was DQd then reinstated following the heats – with the former taking second in 2:12.17 to 2:12.30.
