Lily Jones Will Geaux to Baton Rouge With 2022 Verbal Commitment to LSU
NEW COMMIT: Louisiana State University has picked up a new verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season and beyond from Junior National qualifier Lily Jones out of Fisherville, Ky.
She will join Payton Woodring of Ellijay, Ga. as a member of the Tigers’ Class of 2026.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic career at Louisiana State University. I’ve been so blessed to have had such supportive family, teammates, coaches, and friends by my side throughout my swimming career. Fall 2022 can’t come quick enough! Geaux Tigers!???”
Primarily a backstroker, Jones trains year-round with Triton Swimming and was the 200 back runner-up at the 18&U Winter Championships – Barbourville back in December. In March 2020, she finished 14th in the 200 back at the Southern Premier Invitational and raced three events at Juniors East in 2019.
Her best times include:
- 100 back – 56.55
- 200 back – 2:01.83
- 400 IM – 4:32.46
- 500 free – 5:00.90
A rising senior at Eastern High School, Jones is a six-time individual Kentucky State Championship finalist. She placed sixth in the 200 IM and ninth in the 100 back as a junior while taking fifth in the 500 free and sixth in the 100 back during her sophomore season.
Jones will have three years of overlap with the Tigers’ Class of 2025 that includes Alayna Carlson, Jenna Bridges, Reagan Sweeney, Megan Braman, Peyton Curry, Emily Pawlaski, Sasha Ramey and Abby Maoz.
