Indiana’s Lilly King uncorked an NCAA, U.S. Open and American record in the women’s 100-yard breast at the 2016 NCAA Division I Women’s Championships.
King raced her way to a smoking time of 57.15 for the record, breaking the 57.23 set by Breeja Larson of Texas A&M back in 2014.
Comparative Splits:
King: 26.61, 57.15 (30.54)
Larson: 27.03, 57.23 (30.20)
Considering that King dropped .20 off her previous third-ranked lifetime best of 57.35 from Big Tens last month, tonight could see an unreal barrier-breaking time under 57-seconds.

King will be looking to win Indiana’s seventh NCAA title, joining Kate Fesenko (200 back, 2010), Brooklynn Snodgrass (200 back, 2014), Kimiko Hirai (1m, 1996), Christina Loukas (3m, 2009, Cassandra Cardinell (10M, 2005) and Jessica Parratto (10m, 2015). Notably, Cardinell is in attendance judging diving for the NCAA this week.
King won’t be alone tonight as she chases the title as Stanford’s Sarah Haase moved up to fourth all time in the event’s history with a 57.73 for the second seed.

But no 16-18 NAG record as she turned 19 last month.
Somehow I think she’ll get ivervthatvdisappointment — especially if she’d wind tonight and gets über 57.0’in the process while becoming tge Hoosiers’ first woman breaststroke champ.
Tina Kroker und wir beide für 50m ????
Amazing! Go Hoosiers!
