Leon Marchand Among A France Team Of 13 Selected for World Short-Course Championships
Leon Marchand, Maxime Grousset and Beryl Gastaldello are among a 13-strong France team selected for the World Short-Course Championships in Budapest.
Eight men and five women will travel to the Hungarian capital for the six-day meet which runs from 10-15 December at the Duna Arena as the Olympic year comes to a close.
Marchand didn’t compete at last week’s French Trials in Montpellier but instead made his debut on the World Cup tour where he was crowned overall men’s champion. During the World Cup tour, Marchand set a world record in the 200 individual medley, a suggestion that big performances might be on the horizon in Budapest.
Gastaldello, Grousset and Mewen Tomac dominated the spotlight in the four-time Olympic champion’s absence with the trio all making the trip to Hungary.
France team captain Florent Manaudou will not be competing in Budapest, however.
