Zachary Apple swam a season-best 49.41 for third. He was followed by Ryan Held in 49.85, Josh Fleagle in 50.03 and Ian Finnerty in 50.45.
16-year-old Carson Foster came in seventh in 50.46, right on his morning swim of 50.37. The latter is handily the quickest 16-and-under time this year for the USA and puts him second for 18-and-unders as a whole. Ohio State Swim Club’s Paul Delakis rounded out the heat in 50.70.
