Leah Hayes has inked her name on the record books once again. The 10 year old broke the 10 and under National Age Group Record in the 50 meter breaststroke. The USA Athletic Club Tidal Waves swimmer stopped the clock in 36.06. She entered the meet seeded with a 37.71.

Meghan Lynch held the old mark at 36.13, set in 2014. Lynch still holds the 100 breaststroke record with a 1:17.74. Hayes won the 100 breaststroke yesterday in 1:20.22.

Hayes’ other records set this summer include the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle.

After Hayes and Adele Zyniewicz were both under the 100 freestyle National Age Group record yesterday at the Central Mega Zones Championships, the 50 freestyle mark could fall again when the two race the event tomorrow. Hayes currently holds that mark at 28.33. Zyniewicz had gone a 28.37 a week before to take the mark from Miriam Sheehan.
