Laura Sogar Gets What All Girls Want – Diamonds; Signs With Arena
AUSTIN, Texas, December 5. LAURA Sogar, who currently trains and competes at the University of Texas under Carol Capitani and previously swam for Chuck Batchelor at BlueFish, signed her name on the dotted line for a full sponsorship deal with ArenaUSA.
“I’m so excited to join Team Arena,” said Sogar. “I am a huge fan of the Carbon-Pro Mark 2, and it was very important to me that I work with a company whose technology I believe in. I like what Arena stands for both in and out of the pool, and I look forward to serving as an ambassador for the brand.”
In 2012, she broke onto the international scene with a silver medal in the 200 breaststroke at the World Short Course Championships, while also helping the 400 medley relay to a bronze along with Jessica Hardy, Claire Donahue and Megan Romano.
Collegiately, Sogar won the 200-yard breaststroke at the 2013 NCAA Championships, and finished her career as a six-time All-American. She also closed out her NCAA career with five Big 12 Championship titles as well.
Sogar also nearly made her way onto the London Olympic roster by way of a fourth-place finish in the 200 breast at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials. There, she also took ninth in the 100 breast.
“We are thrilled to welcome Laura to the Arena family,” said Tim McCool, vice president and general manager of Arena USA. “Laura is a promising young talent and someone that we are excited to work with as she enters this exciting phase of her career. Additionally, as a partner of the University of Texas, Arena is proud to add this former Longhorn to our North American team.”
