Laura Sogar dominated the final of the women’s 200 breaststroke, clocking a 2:23.54 that moved her to 13th in the world this year for the event. Her prelims time from this morning (2:25.16) already ranked her as the second-fastest American in the event this year, and she improved on that standing in the final.
After the race, Sogar explained that she was excited to win the National title but elated when she heard of her time, her first best time in the event in years. She also explained the injuries and struggles she faced as a first-year professional swimmer last summer that led to her not qualifying for any championship finals at Nationals.
Who else loves this
Good for her!! She actually climbed over the rope separating the stands at the Charlotte Grand Prix, sat in stands just to sign autographs and take photos! Kids loved it!!
