Laura Sogar Claims 200 Breast Title at Austin Sectionals

Laura Sogar smoked the competition with a 2:27.38 in the women’s 200-meter breaststroke, finishing 8.81 seconds ahead of the competition during day three of the Austin Speedo Sectionals. Destiny Nelson finished second overall with a 2:36.19. Regan Barney rounded out the top three with a 2:38.85.

Emma Sieberlich claimed first in the women’s 200-meter fly with a 2:12.69, dropping 1.71 seconds from her prelims time of 2:14.40. Dakota Luther finished second with a 2:14.36, while Kelsey Leneave was third with a 2:14.43.

Taylor Abbott posted a 2:02.76 for the win in the men’s 200-meter fly. Jack LeVant was a close second with a 2:02.88, while Zachary Cootes finished third with a 2:03.11.

Beryl Gastaldello took the women’s 50-meter free with a 25.56, dropping .30 seconds from her prelims time of 25.86. Elizabeth Boyce claimed second with a 25.91, while Lauren Pitzer rounded out the top three with a 25.92.

The men’s 50-meter free was a close race with the top two finishers touching within .01 of each other. Marshall Seedorff and Jason Head kept it close but it was Seedorff who got his fingers on the wall first with a 23.59. Head finished second with a 23.60, while Tate Jackson was third with a 23.64.

Thiago Parravicini finished first in the mens’ 200-meter breaststroke with a 2:16.21. Hayden Henry was second overall with a 2:19.13, while Robert Thomas took third with a 2:22.04.

Megan Romano posted a 1:02.47 to claim the win in the women’s 100-meter back. Tasija Karosas took second with a 1:02.91, while Seiberlich grabbed third with a 1:03.39.

Andrii Nikishenko swam ahead of the competition in the men’s 100-meter back, posting a 56.85 to take the win. Austin Vacek finished second with a 57.76, dropping .47 seconds from his prelims time of 58.23. Jacob DeMercurio was third with a 58.05.

The women’s 400-meter free was won by Joy Field who posted a winning time of 4:15.50, a 3.01 second drop from her prelims time of 4:18.51. Kaitlin Pawlowicz claimed the second-place title with a 4:17.15, while Lauren Pitzer rounded out the top three wit ha 4:17.75.
