Lander, Laramie Win Wyoming Boys High School State Meets

This weekend the top high school swimmers in Wyoming raced for the 2018 boys swimming and diving state championships. The 3A meet saw a dominating team performance, while in 4A the team title was down to the wire.
3A
Lander scored 325 points to dominate the meet. The team won all three relays. Their sophomore Ryan Brinda topped the 200 freestyle in 1:49.73. His classmate Nick Kulow won the 200 IM with a 2:02.36.
Lander junior Caleb Huelskamp swam a 21.75 to win the 50 freestyle and a 57.28 for 100 breaststroke gold.
Kemmerer’s Carl Krell won the 100 butterfly by five seconds, in 50.39.
Lyman senior Cooper Haycock won the 100 backstroke in 54.01 while Lander’s Lucas Hulme was runner up in 55.10.

Laramie scored 226 points to win the 4A meet, only two more than Thunder Basin’s 224 points.
Kelly Walsh High School won the 200 medley relay in 1:36.82. Laramie took gold in the 200 freestyle relay, two tenths faster than Thunder Bay (1:25.98, 1:26.11). Laramie also won the 400 freestyle relay (3:10.49) while Thunder Bay was second (3:12.10).
Jackson Mugg, a senior from Evanston, won the 200 freestyle with a 1:43.60. He swam a 4:51.14 to win the 500 free.
Laramie’s Max DeYoung won the 200 IM in 1:56.57. He also stopped the clock in 51.13 to win the 100 backstroke. His teammate McKay Lake won the 50 freestyle with a 21.50, ahead of Thunder Bay’s Ty Conklin in 21.61.
In the 100 breaststroke Green River’s Ethan Moffatt broke a minute (58.01) to win the 100 breaststroke.
Kellen Chadderdon of Kelly Walsh raced to a 52.07 for 100 butterfly gold.
Sheridan’s senior Oscar Patten out touched Lake 47.13 to 47.15 to win the 100 freestyle.
