Lakeside Aquatic Club’s Ashley Zettle Selects Florida State Seminoles

NEW COMMIT: Florida State University has picked up a new verbal commitment for the 2020-21 season and beyond from Ashley Zettle of Southlake, Texas.
Primarily a mid-distance freestyler, Zettle swims year-round with Lakeside Aquatic Club and most recently placed 20th in the 200m free at Des Moines Futures this past summer. At College Station Sectionals last winter, she finaled in the 200m free and recorded two personal best times.
Also competing for Carroll Senior High School, the NISCA All-American is a four-time Texas 6A State Championship finalist. Zettle raced to seventh in the 200 free and ninth in the 500 free as a junior after finishing 10th and seventh, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.
She told Swimming World:
“I’m excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Florida State University! Thank you to everyone who has helped and supported me along the way. Go Noles!!”
Her best times include:
- 200 free – 1:51.04
- 500 free – 4:56.06
- 1000 free – 10:17.23
- 400 IM – 4:38.36
When she suits up for the Seminoles as a member of the class of 2024, Zettle will add valuable depth to their freestyle group. Although she’s not in scoring range at the ACC Championships just yet, she has consistently made improvements each season with 10 more months to go before arriving in Tallahassee.
