Lafayette College Adds Verbals from New Jersey Natives Ashleigh Anzevino, Sophia Toomey
NEW COMMITS: Lafayette College has received two verbal commitments for their Class of 2025 from Freehold, N.J. natives Ashleigh Anzevino and Sophia Toomey of New Providence, N.J.
ASHLEIGH ANZEVINO
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Lafayette College! I could not have done it without the constant support from my family, friends, teammates, and coaches! I am so excited to begin this new journey! ROLL PARDS!!”
Anzevino trains year-round with New Jersey Race Club and earned a best time at the EEX Holiday Classic in December. In summer 2019, she raced two events at the New Jersey LCM Junior Olympics.
Her best times include:
50 free – 24.87
100 free – 54.32
200 IM – 2:17.84
Anzevino is currently a senior at Colts Neck High School.
SOPHIA TOOMEY
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Lafayette College!! I would like to thank my family, friends, teammates, and coaches for their continuous support in and out of the pool!! I cannot wait to be a part of this incredible team… ROLL PARDS”
Toomey does her club swimming with Berkeley Aquatic Club and recorded six best times at the BAC Winter Invite in January after placing fifth in the 100 fly at the STAR Invitational in December. She also finaled in the 100m fly at Eastern Zone Seniors last summer.
Her best times include:
- 50 fly – 26.26
- 100 fly – 58.46
- 200 fly – 2:12.14
Also competing for Villa Walsh Academy, Toomey raced the 100 fly at the New Jersey Meet of Champions as a junior.
