Lady Vols Add Alyssa Claborn To Loaded Class of 2029

NEW COMMIT: The University of Tennessee has continued to put together a loaded recruiting class, and its latest commitment is no exception: U.S. Open qualifier Alyssa Claborn of Mooresville, North Carolina.

She will join Mizuki Hirai, Nicole ZettelMere WhelehanAvery Luedke and Lilly Robertson as a member of the Lady Vols’ Class of 2029.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am SO excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic career at The University of Tennessee!! A big thank you to my family, friends, teammates, and especially my coaches for all of their support throughout this process. I am so grateful for the coaches at Tennessee for giving me this opportunity. I can’t wait to be on Rocky Top and be a Lady Vol with such an amazing family!”

Claborn does her club swimming with Lowe’s YMCA Lightning Swim Team and most recently competed at YMCA Long Course Nationals where she placed second in the 100m back, fourth in the 50m back, seventh in the 50m fly and 14th in the 200m back. She collected bronze in the 100 back at YMCA Short Course Nationals back in the spring and took 19th in that event at Juniors East last December.

Her best times include:

  • 100 free – 52.02
  • 100 back – 53.46
  • 200 back – 1:57.87
  • 100 fly – 54.41
  • 200 fly – 2:03.13

Currently a senior at Lake Norman High School, Claborn finished second in the 100 back and fourth in the 100 fly at the 2024 NCHSAA 4A State Championships. She earned bronze in the 100 back during her sophomore season and took seventh in that event during her rookie season.

She is also a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.

The Lady Vols finished second at the 2024 SEC Championships.
