NEW COMMIT: Penn State University has received a verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season and beyond from legacy Krista Marlin of Exton, Pa.

Marlin will be following in her family’s footsteps by suiting up for the Nittany Lions. Her mother, Lisa Marlin, and her father, Robert Marlin, both swam at Penn State. Her sister, Courtney Marlin, is a rising junior on the team while her other sister, Erika Marlin, just graduated.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am super excited and blessed to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Penn State University! Thank you to my coaches, family, and friends who have helped me accomplish my goals! Can’t wait to be a Nittany Lion! ???”

Marlin, who does her club swimming with Suburban Seahawks Club, most recently earned eight best times at the TYR 18&U Cup in Richmond where her highest finish was a 14th-place showing in the 400m IM. A versatile swimmer, she was the runner-up in the 50 free and secured bronze in the 100 back and 100 breast at the 18&U Winter Championships – Carlisle in December.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 23.78
  • 100 free – 51.49
  • 200 free – 1:50.80
  • 100 back – 55.31
  • 200 back – 1:59.06
  • 200 IM – 2:05.21
  • 400 IM – 4:22.49

A rising senior at B. Reed Henderson High School, Marlin is a six-time Pennsylvania 3A State Championship finalist. She placed third in the 100 back and fifth in the 200 free as a junior while taking 15th and ninth, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.

The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American also raced to third in both the 100 back and 200 free at the PIAA District 01 AAA Championships this past season.

Marlin, who will overlap one year with older sister Courtney, is great pickup for Penn State, as she would’ve ranked No. 4 in the 200 back and 400 IM on their lineup last season with a year of club swimming still to go before arriving in State College.
