LA Jolla, Calif., March 12. SAN Diego Swim Master Caroline Krattli, 40, broke four USMS National records competing at a USA swim meet hosted by North Coast Aquatics at the Jewish Community Center February 15-18, 2002, in La Jolla.
As anticipated, the newly-minted 40-year old speedster erased three of Dea Ann Joslin’s 40-44 age-group beaststroke marks in her very first competition since aging up.
Krattli began her spree with a new personal best in 100-yard breaststroke with a super-quick time of 1:04.30, obliterating the old mark of 1:08.29 established in 2000. Previously, Joslin had been the only woman ever to crack 1:10.
In the same event, Krattli’s went for a two-for-one when her swift 30.60 50-split was good enough to better the previous best of 31.19.
In the 200 breast, Krattli did not disappoint as she swam a 2:20.13, hacking over nine seconds off the old mark of 2:29.70.
Showing her versatility, Krattli established her fourth record in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:11.56, shaving half a second off the previous best of 2:12.06 recorded by Jill Hernandez just last year.
