Kosuke Hagino Battling Shoulders Issues

TOKYO – Kosuke Hagino, Swimming World’s World Swimmer of the Year, picked up a pair of IM victories at the Tokyo City Championships this weekend.
Hagino, swimming at the Tatsumi International Swimming Center in Tokyo, won the men’s 400-meter IM in 4:12.18 and the men’s 200-meter IM in 1:57.01.
Hagino claimed some shoulder issues after the meet as he spoke with the media following the two swims.
“These winning times came under tough circumstances,” Hagino told the media. “That means that I have to keep improving.”
That’s a far cry from Hagino’s prideful boasts earlier this month when he said he plans on winning the 200 and 400-meter IM world titles in Kazan “by a wide margin.”
