Konrad Czerniak Shines During Day 1 of 2016 Polish Championships
Konrad Czerniak turned up the heat in the men’s 50-meter free at the 2016 Polish Championships.
Czerniak, already ranked 13th in the world with a 21.95 from the Spanish Spring Championships, took the men’s 50-meter free title tonight in 21.96. Pawel Juraszek tied Filip Wypych for second with 22.13s.
Radoslaw Kawecki, ranked fifth in the world in the men’s 200-meter back with a 1:55.98 from the European Championships, cruises his way to a win in 1:58.20. Mateusz Wysoczynski placed second in 2:00.01 with Jakub Skierka taking third in 2:00.03.
Jan Switkowski, who is ranked 12th in the world in the men’s 200-meter fly with a 1:56.22 from the European Championships, won the event in 1:56.93. Michal Poprawa placed second in a time of 1:57.54 with Damian Chrzanowski taking third in 1:57.75.
Aleksandra Urbanczyk topped the women’s 50-meter freestyle with a time of 25.03. That’s just outside the top 25 in the world. Anna Dowgiert touched second in 25.23 with Dominika Sztandera grabbing third in 25.75.
Klaudia Nazieblo won the women’s 200-meter fly in a time of 2:12.00, while Joanna Mizak touched second in 2:14.46. Wiktoria Musiol snared third in 2:14.96.
Alicja Tchorz checked in with a 2:10.40 to win the women’s 200-meter back. Ludwika Szynal (2:12.28) and Agata Maskret (2:16.23) rounded out the top three.
Joanna Zachoszcz topped the women’s 800-meter free in 8:41.23 with Justyna Burska finishing second in 8:41.43 in a close contest. Milena Karpisz snagged third in 8:45.42.
Mateusz Sawrymowicz dominated the men’s 1500-meter free with a time of 15:08.54. Krzysztof Pielowski placed second in a time of 15:21.78 with Pawel Furtek taking third in 15:27.39.
