NEW COMMIT: Natick, Mass. native and Summer Juniors qualifier Ian Arnold has declared his verbal intention to continue his academic and swimming career at Miami University of Ohio beginning in the fall of 2020.

A sprint freestyler and butterflyer, Arnold swims year-round with Kingfish Swimming and most recently earned four lifetime bests at the TYR Summer Senior Championships this past summer where he finished 16th in both the 50m free and 100m fly. Last winter, he finaled in the 100 free at New England 15-18 Age Groups before going on to record 100% best times at NCSAs. Also competing for Natick High School, the USA Swimming Scholastic All-American competed at the Massachusetts State Championships during his sophomore year.

He told Swimming World:

“I am very excited to announce my commitment to study and compete for Miami University! I want to thank God, my family, my coaches, and all my friends who helped make this possible. The coaches, the team, and the university culture are a great fit for me as a student, athlete, and person, and I cannot wait to be a part of the family at MU. #ringthebell #loveandhonor”

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 20.89
  • 100 free – 46.47
  • 200 free – 1:42.06
  • 50 fly – 23.25
  • 100 fly – 51.08

When he arrives on campus as a member of the class of 2024, Arnold will add his talents to a Redhawks’ sprint group led by Nicholas WamsleyBen Chatwin, and Preston Harrison. He would’ve scored in the B-final of the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 fly at the 2019 MAC Championships where Miami Ohio earned the team title for the first time since 2006.
