Kiara Anchrum, With 100 Fly Time Fast Enough to Win Big East Title, Sends Verbal to Xavier
NEW COMMIT: Xavier University has kept Kiara Anchrum of Mason, Ohio, in-state for her college career as the Junior National qualifier pledged her verbal commitment beginning in the fall of 2021.
She will suit up for the Musketeers as a member of the class of 2025 along with Maddie Agans and Molly Dynda.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Xavier University! A huge thank you to my family, coaches, teammates and friends for helping me get to this point. I am so excited to be a part of such an amazing school and team. Go Musketeers!!! ?⚔️”
A talented butterflyer, Anchrum does her club swimming with Mason Manta Rays and most recently placed eighth in both the 100 and 200 fly at the Southern Premier Invitational. She won the 200 fly at December’s MAKO Holiday Spirit Invite and earned a best time at Junior Nationals in Summer 2019.
Her best times include:
- 50 fly – 25.12
- 100 fly – 54.48
- 200 fly – 2:03.51
- 50 free – 23.86
- 100 free – 52.32
Also competing for Mason High School, Anchrum is a three-time individual Ohio State Championship finalist. She won the 100 fly as a junior while taking 16th in the 50 free during her sophomore season. She also grabbed the gold medal in the 100 fly at the Southwest District Meet in 2020.
Anchrum will make a huge impact when she arrives on campus next year as her fastest times are already at the top of the Musketeers’ roster. Her best time in the 100 fly would’ve won the title at the 2020 Big East Championships by three-tenths, while she also would’ve scored in the A-final of the 200 fly and B-final of the 50/100 free.
