Kenyon’s Jennah Fadely Sets Division III Record in 100 Breast

Kenyon College senior Jennah Fadely set the NCAA Division III record in the women’s 100 breaststroke on Friday night.

Kenyon took part in a two-day tri-meet in Princeton, falling to the United States Naval Academy, 178-175 and to the host Tigers, 241-112.

Fadely still made history, though. She won the 100 breaststroke in 59.62 seconds. That takes down the NCAA record set in 2018 by Denison’s KT Kustritz at 59.77.

Fadely has been circling the record for several years. She’s the two-time reigning NCAA Division III champion in the 100 breast, one of her six NCAA titles, three in individual events. She won the event in 59.94 at NCAAs in 2023, then 59.80 to creep within .03 of it in 2024. Fadely split 59.53 in the 100 breast on Kenyon’s 400 medley relay at NCAAs last year.

On Friday, Fadely went 1-2 in the 100 breast with teammate Gabby Wei, who clocked in at 1:01.05. Fadely also won the 200 breast in 2:11.53 (with Wei second in 2:12.21) in the final day of competition on Saturday. It’s within reach of her best time, which was 2:11.22 from the 2023 NCAA Championship, at which she won the title. At NCAAs last year, Fadely went 2:12.71 to finish second to Wei’s 2:11.70. The NCAA record in the 200 breast is 2:10.06, set in 2022 by St. Kate’s Jordyn Wentzel.

Fadely’s two victories were the only event wins by Kenyon, in men’s or women’s competition at the tri-meet.
