Kentucky Wildcats Score Verbal from Juniors Qualifier Caroline Benda of North Baltimore Aquatic Club
NEW COMMIT: The University of Kentucky has added a verbal commitment from Caroline Benda of Parkton, Md. to their lineup as she will arrive in Lexington in the fall of 2021.
She will join Kaelan Daly, Maddie Welborn, Megan Ciezczak, Annie Galvin, Emma Hermeston, Sydney Stricklin and Madeline Wenig as a member of the Wildcats’ class of 2025.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I’m beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my swimming and academic careers at the University of Kentucky! Thanks to everyone who has helped me get here! Go Cats! ?”
A talented freestyler and IMer, Benda swims year-round with North Baltimore Aquatic Club and owns five Junior National standards. She most recently won the 400 IM, 1000 free, and the mile at Maryland Seniors in February where she achieved six best times after recording seven top-8 finishes at the NBAC Invitational in December.
Her best times include:
- 500 free – 4:54.09
- 1000 free – 10:02.83
- 1650 free – 16:49.55
- 200 IM – 2:05.58
- 400 IM – 4:4:20.44
- 200 back – 2:04.56
Last summer, Benda had a spectacular showing at Maryland LCM Championships. There, she registered six new lifetime bests and earned gold in the 1500m free, 200m back, and 400m IM. She has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for her efforts.
Under head coach Lars Jorgensen, the Wildcats finished third overall in the team standings at the 2020 SEC Championships.
