Kentucky Wildcats Reel In Verbal Pledge from Canada’s Breckin Gormley for 2022
NEW COMMIT: The University of Kentucky has received a new verbal pledge to add to their Class of 2026 from Canadian junior standout Breckin Gormley of Almonte, Ontario.
She will join Jordan Agliano of Orlanda, Fla. in Lexington at the start of the 2022-23 season.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I’m extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic career at the University of Kentucky. A big thanks to my coaches, family and friends who have supported me along the way. Can’t wait to be a part of such an amazing team!! GO CATS”
Gormley trains year-round with the Nepean Kanata Barracudas and most recently won the 100m fly and 200m IM at the Winter Ontario Youth Junior Championships in March where she also recorded five additional top-6 finishes. She also notched six best times at the Ontario Junior International meet in December.
In LCM, her best times include:
- 100m fly – 1:01.51
- 200m IM – 2:20.72
- 400m IM – 4:59.40
- 100m back – 1:05.77
- 200m back – 2:20.99
- 200m free – 2:05.51
- 400m free – 4:29.95
In SCY, those times convert to:
- 100 fly – 54.55
- 200 IM – 2:03.41
- 400 IM – 4:22.27
- 100 back – 57.41
- 200 back – 2:03.64
- 200 free – 1:50.95
- 500 free – 5:00.18
In summer 2019, she earned gold in the 100m fly and bronze in both the 200m back and 400m free at TYR Summer Seniors. At the Canadian Swimming Trials in April 2019, Gormley competed in five events.
Under head coach Lars Jorgensen, the Wildcats finished third at the 2020 SEC Championships.
