Kentucky Wildcats Reel In Verbal Commitment from Junior National Qualifier Jack Hamilton
NEW COMMITS: Junior National qualifier Jack Hamilton of Pleasant Ridge, Mich. has selected to continue his academic and swimming career at the University of Kentucky beginning in the fall of 2021.
He will join Michael Belair, Mac Russell, and Jackson Mussler in Lexington as a member of the Wildcats’ class of 2025.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“Honored to announce that I will be continuing to swim and study as a part of the University of Kentucky’s Class of ‘25. Loved the coaches, the team and the campus, and I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the Big Blue Nation. Go Cats!”
A talented backstroker and IMer, Hamilton swims year-round with Atlantis Swimming and earned two best times at Juniors East in December. Last spring, he finaled in three events at NCSAs and placed 11th in the 400 IM at Indianapolis Sectionals. He also three top-25 finishes at NCSAs last long course season.
His best times include:
- 50 back – 23.52
- 100 back – 50.16
- 200 back – 1:49.43
- 200 IM – 1:51.54
- 400 IM – 3:58.90
- 200 free – 1:41.33
- 500 free – 4:32.75
Also competing for Berkley High School, Hamilton is a four-time Michigan DII State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American won the 100 back and finished third in the 200 IM as a sophomore while taking fourth in the 100 back and sixth in the 200 free during his freshman season.
The Wildcats finished seventh overall in the team standings at the 2020 SEC Championships under head coach Lars Jorgensen. They also qualified five swimmers for the NCAA Championships – their most in a decade.
