Kentucky Wildcats Get Verbal from Butterflyer Kristyn Sabol for 2020-21 Season
NEW COMMIT: The University of Kentucky has gained a new verbal commitment for the fall of 2020 from Dublin, Ohio native Kristyn Sabol.
Primarily a butterflyer, Sabol swims year-round with Dublin Community Swim Team and owns four Winter Junior standards. She most recently competed at the MAKO Senior Circuit where she won a pair of events and notched five best times. This past summer, she earned gold in the 200m fly at Spire Speedo Sectionals.
Also competing for Coffman High School, Sabol is a four-time Ohio State Championship finalist and has earned NISCA All-American honors. She was the 200 free runner-up and took seventh in the 100 fly as a junior after finishing third and fourth, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.
She told Swimming World:
“I am extremely honored and excited to announce my verbal commitment to The University of Kentucky. I am so proud to have the opportunity to continue my academic and swimming career with such a high level program, school, and staff. I’m forever grateful for my family, coaches, and team for their endless support. I can’t wait to call U.K. Home in upcoming years! Go Cats!!”
Her best times include:
- 50 fly – 26.03
- 100 fly – 55.29
- 200 fly – 1:59.31
- 100 free – 51.01
- 200 free – 1:48.09
Although she’s not in scoring range just yet at the SEC Championships, Sabol has continuously made improvements each season with well over a year to go before arriving in Lexington. She’ll have two years of overlap to train with Izzy Gati, Kentucky’s top returning butterflyer.
