Katinka Hosszu Tunes Up at Romania International
After a strong week at the 2016 European Championships. Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu stopped off at the 2016 Romanian International Championships to get in a tune-up meet.
After clocking a 4:36.92 in prelims in the women’s 400-meter IM, Hosszu won the finale in 4:34.14. She’s been much faster this year with a top-ranked 4:29.89 from the Golden Tour, but it was more than enough to win tonight. Romania’s Maria Gadea took second in 4:57.56 with Simona Svastita placing third in 5:05.04.
Amel Melih of Algeria won the women’s 50-meter back with a time of 29.77, while Romania’s Bianca Macavei took second in 29.91. Romania’s Ana Iulia Dascal finished third in 30.59.
Robert Glinta of Romania turned in a 25.69 to win the men’s 50-meter back, while Romania’s Daniel Martin took second in 26.26. Paul Ungur snared third in 26.50.
Bogdan Fodor captured the men’s 400-meter IM in 4:30.90, while Alexandru Badeata took second in 4:34.86. Bogdan Petra placed third in 4:35.30.
Romania’s Alexandra Dobrin claimed the women’s 100-meter fly in 1:03.04 with Kristina Schneider second in 1:03.86. Victorita Bogdaneci earned third in 1:04.02.
Romania’s Alexandru Coci topped the men’s 100-meter fly in 53.81 with Daniel Martin taking second in 54.65. George Ratiu snared third in 55.52.
