Katinka Hosszu Headlines Indian Ocean Meet in La Reunion
LA REUNION – While most of the swimming community is either on training trips or enjoying the holidays, the Iron Lady Katinka Hosszu will headline the Indian Ocean Meet to close out a successful 2014.
Swimming World’s European Swimmer of the Year, Hosszu has not yet officially entered any events. But, according to her coach-husband Shane Tusup, they are both in La Reunion and she will swim her typical loaded schedule.
She’s not the only high profile swimmer swimming at the meet Dec. 28-30. Charlotte Bonnet and Jeremy Stravius are there from France, while South African Roland Schoeman and former South African/now-American Darian Townsend have also decided to ring in the new year in paradise.
The meet is competitive, but also more of a celebration of everything aquatic. The first night of swimming will also feature a synchronized swimming exhibition. Additionally, an exhibition water polo match of the best players in La Reunion will take place on Dec. 29.
Swimming World will have full coverage of the meet starting tomorrow.
