Katinka Hosszu Earns 3 More Finals Spots During Prelims at 2015 FINA World Cup Chartres
Katinka Hosszu set herself up with three more finals spots tonight during day two prelims of the 2015 FINA World Cup Chartres.
Hosszu topped qualifying in the 100-meter free with a 54.69 ahead of Natalie Coughlin’s second-seeded 54.76. Missy Franklin qualified third in 55.08.
Hosszu then trailed Coughlin, 1:00.36 to 1:00.68, in the 100-meter back for the top two seeds. Franklin (1:00.73) and Emily Seebohm (1:00.94) also broke 1:01.
Hosszu claimed her third finals spot out of prelims with a third-seeded 4:15.48 in the 400-meter free. Lauren Boyle (4:14.20) and Li Bingjie (4:14.33) earned the top two seeds.
The breaststroke was kind to the Americans.
Breeja Larson (30.92) and Jamaica’s Alia Atkinson (31.09) went 1-2 in the women’s 50 breast, while Nic Fink (1:01.05), Cody Miller (1:01.20) and Brendan McHugh (1:01.37) went 1-2-3 in the men’s 100-meter breast.

Beryl Gastaldello in the women’s 50-meter fly, 26.56.
